“I don’t think I suffered too long at the beginning of tattooing. I think I did pretty well with the technical side but then it takes forever to find your vision.” – Grime

If you’re familiar with Vice’s Epicly Later’d series then you’ve seen the time and effort that goes into the series that profiles some of the most legendary names in skateboarding. Their online broadcasting network VBS has recently started releasing their newest series Tattoo Age, a similarly formatted show that takes a close look at some of the most renowned tattoo artists in the world. Have a look at the very well produced bios that have been released so far on the show:

Grime

I think Grime’s quote above could be true of any medium used to express an idea; musicians, painters, photographers and tattoo artists can spend years mastering the tools of their craft but the rest of their lives are spent trying to zero in on what they have to say with those tools. Veterans in every facet of art seem to paraphrase that same idea over and over again, and I think it’s encouraging to know that even those at the top of the ladder are still chasing their own rabbit.
